PROPOSAL FOR URBAN TRAFFIC PLANNING IN PORTOVIEJO FROM RAMOS IDUARTE STREET TO THE MONUMENT OF AGRICULTURE

Abstract

In order to guarantee a better planning in the congestion of vehicular traffic, this scientific article is elaborated, since alternatives of improvements are proposed regarding the level of service to mitigate the vehicular chaos present in the study area, taking into account that Ramos Iduarte Street and University Avenue itself that leads to the Monument of Agriculture, are avenues considered as roads of greater flow since they are part of the entrance and exit to the city of Portoviejo. The increase in population and vehicle fleet, as well as the increase in the use of private vehicles and the high tendency to use motorcycles, make the road network insufficient in many stretches. Within the development of this article, data collection was implemented, which consisted of carrying out a vehicular gauging, which were taken at traffic lights, measurements of the existing characteristics, to alleviate the great vehicular congestion of the intersection is that it proposes to modify the traffic light times, where the safety of pedestrians is prioritized.
