Abstract

After the earthquake of April 16, 2016, the Briones citadel was subjected to several processes of uplift and subsidence of the relief in geoforms that in previous times already suffered a series of landslides and activation of mass flows caused mainly by intense climatic factors and by erosion systems due to the removal of the original topsoil. Another factor that has a lot of influence to intensify the instability of slopes was the aggravation of the urban-agricultural border as well as the low efficiency of the structural works to contain mass movements in areas not suitable for it. To reduce this type of hazard in the citadel, this research aims to characterize the current geomechanical behavior of the subsoil and the topographic surface, by using 4 methods: application of the INSAR methodology to zoning the uplift-subsidence of the relief with using the SARPROZ software, analyze External Geodynamics processes using morphometric parameters, such as the Flow Accumulation Index-FACC, the Topographic Moisture Index-TWI and the factor of Length and Magnitude of the Slope-LS, with the SAGA software, the analysis of slope stability using SHALSTAB software, all this supported with Geotechnical information provided by GAD Portoviejo and its own file. The results indicate that in the Briones citadel, there are XX zones of maximum deformation of the relief that, correlated with the geotechnical investigations carried out by the Municipal GAD of Portoviejo, are unstable zones in which landslides can occur (rotational-translational-lateral expansion, subsidence deep gravitational forces, falling blocks and mass flows of various kinds.
