With the purpose of determining the bearing capacity of the soil in the Andrés de Vera parish of the Portoviejo canton of the province of Manabí and, in turn, the elaboration of a zoning map of the bearing capacity of the soils. The method used is of a mixed descriptive and experimental type where it is sought to analyze and specify the physical and chemical characteristics of the soil, supported by empirical formulas of soil mechanics such as that of Karl Terzaghi's load capacity; supported by the characterization of the soils through granulometric tests, Atterberg limits and natural density tests, tests that allowed the estimation of the soil load parameters of the entire investigated area. According to the unified soil classification system (SUCS), the following soil types were determined: High plasticity silt (MH) and High plasticity silt with sand (MH); six Zones have been determined through statistical calculations and analysis. Zone 1: 0,89 to 1,62, Zone 2: 1,63 to 2,34, Zone 3: 2,35 to 3,07, Zone 4: 3,08 to 3,80, Zone 5: 3,81 to 4,53 and Zone 6: 4,54 to 5,29; in what corresponds to the field CBR and for the laboratory CBR Zone 1: 1,11 to 1,87, Zone 2: 1,88 to 2,64, Zone 3: 2,65 to 3,41, Zone 4: 3,42 to 4,18, Zone 5: 4,19 to 4,95 and Zone 6: 4,96 to 5,73; with a depth of -1.00 meters applied in both methods.
